Printable maths Advent calendar

An Advent calendar for maths: a snowy village of 24 houses with a problem in every window. From 1 December, your child finds the house with that day’s date, works out the problem, writes the answer in the door and colours the house in if it’s right. Beside every door there is a small picture to colour, and in front of house 24, the big one with the star, all eight animals from the game Number Jungle are waiting. There are four levels: adding and subtracting to 10 (start of Year 1 / Grade 1), to 20 (Year 1–2 / Grade 1), to 100 (Year 2–3 / Grade 2) and times tables with division (Year 2–4 / Grade 2–3). Free as a PDF, no sign-up needed.

How the calendar works

  1. The houses are mixed up like the doors of a real Advent calendar. Every day your child looks for the house with that day’s date.
  2. They work out the problem in the window and write the answer in the front door.
  3. If the answer is right, the house gets coloured in. By 24 December the whole village is colourful.

For teachers

A short warm-up for every maths lesson in December: one house a day, found and solved together. Children catch up on the weekend houses on Monday. All four levels have the same village, so the whole class searches together and each child works at their own level.
